Words To Live By

At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself: Of the many different lives that can be lived, which is the one that's going to inspire you?

Living Large

I found a quote by Martha Beck that truly sums up the theme of all of our workshops.

"You life is not little, and your playing small doesn't serve the world. Your living large, on the other hand--your being your true self despite fear, fatigue, doubt and opposition--will serve the world more than you can imagine. In fact, it may help save it. And saving the world, after all, is what all heros (including you) are here to do."

"Shedding Years...Growing Older, Feeling Younger" by Phyllis Greene

As we get older we continue to look for positive elders to be our role models. We think we've found one in Phyllis Greene. She became a first-time author at the age of eighty-two. In this her second book, she shares the secrets of growing younger by staying fully present for and actively involved in your life. Her grace, good humor, and penetrating insights make this a memorable read.

Helping Phyllis stay focused on the present gifts and joy in her life is a quote by Edith Wharton which she uses in her Introduction section. It's good food for thought for all of us regardless of our present age. "In spite of illness, in spite even of the archenemy, sorrow, one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways."

In the September 2008 issue of Oprah Magazine

We found this wonderful quote in an article entitled Are You On The Right Course? by Martha Beck.

You and I might not have met, but because of my own superpower, I can tell you this: Your life is not little, and your playing small doesn't serve the world. Your living large, on the other hand--your being your true self despite fear, fatigue, doubt, and opposition--will serve the world more than you can imagine. In fact, it may help save it. And saving the world, after all, is what all heroes (including you) are here to do.

Chrysalis Works - Hot Topics

If you are anything like me, you may have discovered that your family of origin influenced many of the choices you made in the first half of your life. Career choices, lifestyles, patterns, rhythms, roles, expectations, and ways of living grew out of what was familiar. This may have been very fulfilling for that season of life, but for many women in midlife these choices no longer feel quite right.

About us....

At Chrysalis Works we honor this phase of the mid-life journey. We believe that women being in the presence of other women and finding commonalities in their stories is key to maximizing growth during this time. Our workshops are designed to create a supportive, safe and nurturing environment for women in mid-life transition. We offer activities and tools that allow each participant to navigate personal transitions with compassion, grace, and joy. Our goal is to help each woman recognize the possibilities that are currently present in her life and the elements that will provide meaning and purpose in creating a vibrant future.

Welcome

Chrysalis...
A transitional stage through which a caterpillar becomes a butterfly.

During the chrysalis phases of a woman’s life, little may appear to be happening because much of the change is occurring internally, beneath the surface. These transitions involve shifts in the way she sees the world. A chrysalis stage is a time when the former way of being is no longer possible and a new “Self” has not yet emerged. This is a time of exploration, questioning, and discovery.
